The mere fact that so many things vary around the world implies that there are geographical dimensions to them. Two things that vary significantly are wealth and development and they go hand in hand with geography and politics. Some people and places naturally have more due to their economic practices, availability of resources, governmental status, and geographical location, while others have much less. In the same manner, some places are significantly advanced while others remain extremely behind on the times. This issue is especially relevant when it comes to technology. There is a major digital divide between more developed and less developed countries and this has a close relation to wealth as well.
Due to the technological advances being made around the world, there is a dire need to address the digital divide that exists among individuals in developed or developing countries. Those that lack access to technological resources are much more disadvantaged socially and economically, in comparison to those with easy access to things like computers and the internet. While cost may be the first factor that comes to mind for causing this divide, there are many other things like education and infrastructure that contribute to the divide as well. Not only does this divide hinder the less developed countries from advancing further, it also increases the gap between classes in society, puts a strain on the economy, lessens opportunities for education, and so many more. Thus, it is going to take overcoming many different obstacles, including power struggles, to lessen this divide going forward.
